Katherine Riley
Roles: Early Childhood Ministries Director

I’m so excited to serve Jesus as the Director of Early Childhood Ministries here at Beach Lake
FM Church! This body of believers has been home to me and my growing family since 2010. My
own kids have been among the hundreds of children blessed by our amazing teachers and
volunteers who have faithfully poured into the lives of little ones over the years.
I was born and raised in central Connecticut by a loving family in which faith ran deep. Some of
my favorite childhood memories involved musty church basement nurseries, felt board Sunday
School lessons, and Vacation Bible School games. The Biblical, as well as life lessons, I learned
from my own Sunday School teachers gave me a road map with which to navigate the highs
and lows of adolescence and early adulthood which hovered just over the horizon.
I attended Nyack College in Nyack, NY where I met my husband, Matt, and earned my bachelor
of arts degree in philosophy. We got married in January 2005, then moved to Wilmore, KY,
where we both studied and began to raise our family. I graduated from Asbury Theological
Seminary with a master of arts in counseling. God has given Matt and me four incredible
children, and it is my joy to raise them, guide them, love them, laugh with them, and educate
them at home. Over the past decade I have been blessed by serving in ministry alongside my
husband, working as a professional trauma therapist, and living in East Asia for several years,
where my family shared Jesus through our daily lives.
King Solomon the Wise observed that children are a heritage, a reward, and a blessing given directly from the Lord to His people (Psalm 129:3-5). Jesus rebuked His own disciples for attempting to steer the boisterous kids away from Him, insisting instead that they allow the children to come running! (Matthew 19:4) Infants and children are so clearly a treasured Kingdom priority, and as a local church we are called to guide their eyes, minds, and hearts to the Tender Savior as He beckons them to Himself. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your child’s spiritual upbringing!
Favorite Scripture Verse: Job 19:25-27 - “I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh will I see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!”
Favorite Worship Song/Hymn: Jesus Paid it All written by Elvina M. Hall (1865); Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder by John Newton (1774), That Where I Am, There You May Also Be by Rich Mullins (1997)
