The first step any new disciple of Jesus is encouraged to take is baptism into water. Though baptism does not earn you salvation, it is a really cool way to declare to your family, friends, and to the world that you are "not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ" (Rom. 1:16 ESV). It is a public declaration of (1) your faith in the gospel's message and (2) obedience to the gospel's example. Baptism is also a symbolic act showing what has happened on the inside: the washing away of sins. We believe baptism is reserved for those who truly confess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
If you would like to be baptized at BLFMC, contact us and we will provide you with BLFMC's Baptism Handbook, a guide designed to help you understand baptism better and to walk you through what your baptism will look like. Once you have read through it and answered its questions, you will meet with a pastor or elder of the church to talk through your testimony and prepare you for baptism. We can't wait to join you in this public declaration of your faith!
We're Striving for 3,000!
Just like there were 3,000 new believers baptized when the Holy Spirit used Peter to preach the gospel in Acts 2, we long to see 3,000 new believers baptized through our ministry, not for boastful purposes, but we genuinely long to see new people saved and starting a new relationship with Jesus.
