Howard Barnes
Roles: Shepherd, Trustee
My name is Howard Barnes. I was born in Honesdale PA and raised in Narrowsburg NY, and lived my entire life in this area, (except for my college years in Greenville, IL). Beach Lake Free Methodist Church has always been my church home and I have been a member since I joined as a junior member in childhood. My great-grandparents were the founding members of this church. I am a fourth generation Free Methodist. I accepted Christ as a child but drifted away from Christ for a few years. In my early 20's I recommitted my life to Christ and have been faithful ever since.
In 1968, I returned to this area with my wife, Cindy Sue Barnes, and together we raised six children- five daughters and one son. We now have twenty three grandchildren.
My career was in business at the Narrowsburg Lumber Company. It was a family owned operation from 1927-2003. I worked at the Shohola yard as a teenager during the summer months, and after college I returned to the same location as a salesperson and retired as Yard Manager. My only other employment was teaching for a year in the Greenville School District as a junior high English teacher and Physical Education director.
Throughout the years I have served the church in most capacities and now am a referral person for what occurred over the years. Currently, I am a Church Shepherd and chairman of the Beach Lake Cemetery Committee.
